IBERICA in Spinningfields is a beautiful Spanish restaurant, with an amazing bar and two outdoor terraces. Quays News writer Kerry Cabbin tries its new Spring menu.
Stunning decor creates a great Spanish ambience at Iberica before diners even smell and taste the amazing menu,
I sat upstairs where fantastic waiter Carlos offered lots of advice about the menu including gluten free options. He was happy to speak to the chef and share his knowledge of the menu with me.
The food was seriously tasty. From the deli, I choose bread with olive oil, olives, a mand the cheese board selection. The meat selection had some delicious spicy chorizo, and the cheese board was enjoyed by everyone in the party.
All the tapas had great taste, and the fried plantain which accompanied the chicken wings in Canarian mojo pikon sauce was a particular hit. My favourite was the asparagus toast and surprisingly I enjoyed the black rice squid dish, but would advise not to order this if on a date or business meeting.
Even though I was feeling pretty full from the tapas, I could not leave without trying the dessert menu, ordering the caramelised Spanish rice pudding – delicious, Crema catalana foam – so good, and the churros with chocolate – if you love churros, these are for you. All of this was washed down with Ibericas signature drinks from their cocktail menu, the strawberry gin smash, got a thumb’s up from me. It was a great evening and I was really impressed with the menu and food. The atmosphere was also inviting and we received fantastic customer service. I will definitely be heading back here again.
