AN award winning TV chef has joined a Salford-based brewery to cook up a storm.
Eve Townson, of Great British Menu, has been appointed as Catering Development Manager at Hydes Brewery.
Eve, who was finalist on the show in 2015, was head chef at the award winning Ramsbottom pub The Eagle and Child.
She has now turned her culinary skills to developing the food side of the expanding chain of pubs.
The job will include developing new menus and improving the quality of food on offer.
She said: “I had a really bad accident with my ankle about six years ago so I can’t be in the kitchen full time, and I have a little boy who’s five.
“So it’s like a work/life balance: what can I do that keeps my hands in the kitchen when I can’t be in the kitchen full time? So it’s the best of both worlds really.”
In her role, Eve plans to work with the chefs already established in the company to push the food to her high standard.
She also is hopeful that Hydes will have a development kitchen in the longer term.
She plans to put her skills learnt on Great British Menu to the job, and said that her appearance on the show will give the chefs someone to look up to.
She said: “I’m a great believer in you have to earn respect. Any chef that says they’ve stopped learning or they know everything, to me is a rubbish chef. There’s so much more to learn and you have to take that on board.
“Hopefully I can help develop the chefs at Hydes.”
Jamie Dargie, Head Chef at Hydes’ flagship Northern Quarter pub Abel Heywood, voiced his excitement at Eve joining the team.
He said: “I want to take the food that I’ve done in the past to a different level now, and with Eve’s help I think that’s very much achievable.”
