ORMSKIRK CC’s young right-handed batsman Josh Bohannon has signed for Lancashire as a Scholarship player for 2017.
The 19-year-old from Bolton has made a name for himself in Lancashire’s Academy, playing for the second team multiple times in the past two years and taking on 12th man duties for the first team.
Speaking to the club, he said it would be the “next stepping stone to become a professional cricketer for Lancashire”.
Bohannon follows in the footsteps of players such as Alex Davies, Matt Parkinson and Danny Lamb, who was awarded his first professional contract earlier this year.
Lancashire Head Coach and Cricket Director Ashley Giles said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for Josh and a reward for his hard work that he has put in over the last two years as part of the Academy.’
The team head to Dubai in March for a pre-season tour that will see them play games against Yorkshire and United Arab Emirates.
