A 38 YEAR-OLD-MAN from Rochdale has been sentenced to jail, after repeatedly raping two girls and a woman.
Michael Burke, of College Bank, has been sentenced at Manchester Crown Court to 15 years in prison, five years extended license, and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Prior to being sentenced, Burke had been found guilty of eight counts of rape and one count of buggery.
The court heard how Burke had targeted his first victim, and raped her on several occasions between September 1992 and December 1994.
Around the time the attacks on the first victim stopped, Burke began raping a second victim between December 1994 and November 1995.
The third victim was an adult when Burke raped them in 2010.
All three victims came forward to the police in February 2015 and an investigation was launched, culminating in a three-week trial at Manchester Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Louise Bentley of Greater Manchester Police’s Public Protection Division commended the three brave people for the: “tremendous courage they showed coming forward to police and seeing the investigation through to the end.”
She continued “Michael Burke is a predator who preyed on his victims to satisfy his own depraved needs, without giving a second thought to how his actions would affect them, either physically or psychologically. I am pleased to be able to say that justice has prevailed and he will now serve a lengthy prison sentence.
“I hope this sentence will go some way to bringing them closure and also some comfort to know that their attacker has been brought to justice.”
