LEAGUE One Oxford United proved too strong for Macclesfield Town as they won 3-0 in their FA Cup second-round replay at the Kassam Stadium last night.
Playing away from home, the Silkmen struggled to get a hold of a game that saw three goals, a red card and a nasty injury in the first half to Oxford’s Aaron Martin.
Poor defending from Macclesfield in the opening 10 minutes led to a goal from centre-forward Ryan Taylor, who ended his drought in front of goal for the first time in fifteen games.

A rash challenge from Mitch Hancox saw him receive a second yellow and removed from the game on the stroke of halftime, and there was no coming back for Macclesfield from there.
After the break, second half efforts from Joe Rothwell and Kane Hemmings helped seal a well-deserved victory for a strong Oxford side.
Macclesfield’s defeat means that the squad won’t receive their free beds from their main sponsors, who had previously promised the team new furniture if they were to reach the third-round.
Oxford will now face a third-round tie away from home against Championship side Rotherham United.
