AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man was found collapsed in the street with serious head injuries in Hulme.
The 53-year-old male was found collapsed on St Georges Avenue on Monday night.
The male was taken to hospital but sadly passed away at 2pm on Tuesday.
Police are currently treating the incident as suspicious.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Geoff Machent said: “People will understandably be alarmed when they hear about this and I want to assure people that we have launched an investigation, and have extra officers in the area tonight.
“I would urge you to come forward if you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area that might help us establish how the man came by his injuries.”
A home office post – mortem and formal identification are due to take place.
