FC United of Manchester are trying to raise £15,000 to kit out their cabin – a facility that will be used for the local community.

The building was kindly donated to the supporter owned club for free, but needs refurbishment so it can be a useable facility.

The cabin will be used for the youth academy so they have their own personal space to hang out and it will also give the club an opportunity to provide additional space for volunteers and open on match days to serve refreshments.

FC United of Manchester press officer Andy Walker told Quays News: “We hope the campaign can last the whole way through to the first week of April. We hope to get to that £15,000 deadline in that time, we need to otherwise we won’t have the funds to support this.

“People who donate will be helping to create a facility that will be used by the local community to improve and increase the amount of activities we’re able to put on as a community organisation.

“It will make a real difference to all of the people that are involved.”

“It’s not a donation that people won’t see; they’ll be able to see it in front of their eyes, in front of the ground.”

The deadline for the campaign has now been extended until April 8 which will give people “the maximum opportunity to support the campaign”.

FC United of Manchester have just passed the £10,000 mark and need your support to reach the required amount in time.

The club has “no rich backers” and only receives support from its members and their supporters.

The ‘Kit out the cabin’ campaign follows on from their 2014 successful campaign ‘Kit it out’ to refurbish their function room – the target was to reach £26,000. However due to the amount of support the club received, they exceeded the amount and received £51,320. The club hope to replicate this success.

The cabin will “bring additional community work into the area” making it a true community facility.

Walker added: “We have a number of different rewards available depending on the amount you pledge for your support.”

The rewards range from being listed in a match day programme; to having a meal in their refurbished function room at a special evening event hosted by the manager Karl Marginson, and the club coaches.

You can follow the campaign on their website and also on their Twitter page @FCUnitedMcr.

You can pledge your support for the campaign by going onto the crowdfunder website.
